Show and Tell Tuesdays: Hey Baby

Today, I am linking up with my girl, Andrea, over at Momfessionals for Show and Tell Tuesdays!

Today, the topic is “Most Embarassing Moment” which is pretty much my specialty.  How do I manage to have so many of these moments?!  I was trying to narrow it down to one story to tell, and I had a full out bullet list of possibilities. 😉

Show and Tell - Big List

In the end, I decided to share the most recent embarassing moment…a little episode that has it’s own cheeky hashtag in our family.  This is #BASEBALLGATE2014…

Last Fall, all 3 of the kids were in organized sports.  So, oftentimes, we would divide and conquer when we had a conflict and then meet up whenever the earlier game/practice ended.

And, so it was, on one fateful night…that when I wrapped up at soccer practice for Luke… I, then, loaded Luke and Presley up into my car and headed to meet Robert at Jackson’s baseball game that was already in progress.

Now, when Jackson started baseball 7 years ago, the games were so cute and sweet!  They would play in the dirt, get distracted by the big trucks that drove by, and were most excited about the snacks after the game!  However, these days, the boys take the game much more seriously and things can get heated on the baseball diamond!  That night, the tension could be cut with a knife…the game was tight, the boys were frustrated, and the coaches from each team were a little ticked off with one another.

Honestly, I can’t remember who won the game, but it ended…and, we packed things up and headed to the car.  It was late and dark, and everyone was ready to get in bed!  Since we drove separately to the game, Robert and Jackson headed to his car, and I loaded up the younger two back into mine.

As we were driving through the dark parking lot, I saw Robert walking to his car.  In a moment of brilliance, I decided to roll down my window and surprise him by saying something really funny!  Wasn’t that such a good idea??  So, I slowed my SUV to a roll, rolled down my window, and said “Hey, Baby” in my best sexy voice.

It was sometime around the second syllable of the word Baby that I realized that it wasn’t actually Robert…it was the coach…of the other team.

Bless it.

Now, the responsible thing would have been to explain the big mix-up, but…  Oh my gosh!!!  I was so embarrassed that I couldn’t even speak!!  So, I, promptly, picked my jaw up off the floorboard, rolled up my window, and went on my merry way.  So classy! Ha! Hopefully, we won’t run into that coach/team during Spring baseball!

Y’all, there is a moral story in this story…Don’t ever talk to men in dark parking lots–IT’S JUST NOT A GOOD IDEA!  ðŸ˜‰

  1. Oh my gosh I love love love this. I was snickering through out the whole thing. Hilarious! It’s like the grownup version of when your a kid and you see a man’s feet, and think it’s your dad, and grab their hand. You see a man’s back, think it’s your husband, and shout sexy phrases.

  2. Love this, and I love that you just drove off. At least it was the other team’s coach and not your sons coach. Hahahah.
I did something like this once, but instead it was at church and I thought my husband was following right behind me and so I stopped and waited for him to be at my side and I grabbed his arm and started walking with him. It took me a good few seconds to realize it wasn’t him and my husband was right behind us looking super confused. Hahaha. But at least I didn’t pinch his butt like my friend did to her husband’s twin brother once when she thought it was her husband. Hahaha.
