Vacationing in Destin: Tips and other favorites

Hey, y’all!! Today, I am sharing some of the tips that we’ve gathered while vacationing in the Destin, Florida area over the past several years.  This area is so special to me and my family!   We go annually, and my hopes are to be bringing my grandbabies someday!  It’s a great place to vacation with your family!

We drive from the Dallas area!  We break out all of the fun stuff that we don’t normally do alot of: candy, DVD players, and all of the electronics!  And, they have the best time during our drive down!

Every year, we stay at the Hilton in Sandestin.  There are lots of amazing places to stay in the area, but we LOVE this hotel!   It is located directly on the beach, offers beach setup and drink/food service on the beach, and is just so convenient!

The view is amazing!

I love sitting on our patio, and reading before the rest of the family wakes up!  So peaceful!

And, we spend plenty of time on that beautiful beach!

There are two outdoor pools and one indoor pool area!  It is so pretty, and my kids love swimming here when they need a break from the ocean.  Also, there is a poolside restaurant in between the pools, and that is where I usually have my daily burger and fries at lunch…because #vacation. 😉

Every few years, we like to take a drive out and visit all of the cute beach towns along Highway 30A.

Seaside, Watercolor, and Rosemary Beach are darling…Honestly, it doesn’t get more picturesque than this!   There are lots of delicious restaurants along the way, and the grilled cheese at the food trucks in Seaside is EVERYTHING. 🙂

Most days, we spend the day at the beach by our hotel, and then go out for a nice dinner.  One of our favorite spots is Harborwalk Village!

Every year, we have dinner at Harry T’s because they have the most delicious Fried Shrimp in town.  Plus, the view is amazing!

Also, there are usually some cute activities for kids and a main stage where you can catch a free performance!

Also, we love to visit Baytowne Wharf!

Isn’t it so pretty at night?  We love to walk around, and check out all of the cute shops!!

We love to eat at Poppy’s Seafood restaurant while we are there and then grab a shake at the ice cream shop down the street!

The view at Poppy’s 🙂

This year, we went to Destin Commons as well!  It’s a fun little outdoor mall, and it was the perfect place to explore after dinner!  Also, if you haven’t been crab hunting on the beach after dark, then that is a fun after dinner activity with the kids as well!

All in all, we always have an amazing time!   If you have any tips for the Destin area, leave them in the comments section!  The more, the merrier!

Happy Wednesday, y’all!!  XOXO Narci

  1. Thanks so much for the travel tips for Destin. I have been a long time ago in my single days, but would love to go with our family. And thanks for the advice on the Hilton. We try to stay in Hiltons to get the HHonors points, so this would be perfect. Did you stay in a regular room or the suite with bunk beds? Thanks for the info…love your blog. 🙂

  2. Looks beautiful, I’ll have to put this trip on my list for an upcoming vacation! Any specific tips on the road trip with kids? We’ll be doing a 7 hour trip soon and I’m nervous the most we’ve done is 3 1/2, my kids are 6 and 10

  3. Some of our family favs when at the Sandestin Hilton are The Donut Hole and Another Broken Egg Cafe. There is Another Broken Egg at Baytowne Wharf but they’ve recently opened a new one by Publix at Grand Blvd!! SCORE!!! Make sure your kiddos order the chocolate milk…my 25 year old STILL wants this special treat when we visit 😉 and please tell me you’ve been to Red Bar?? (Kid friendly)

    • Yes!! We love both of those restaurants and went to both this trip!! I love that your sweet big kiddo still loves that chocolate milk!! I don’t blame them–it is amazing!! I have been to Red Bar, but we didn’t go this trip. Thanks for the reminder on that!! We need to go next year! 🙂

I love to hear from you! Leave a comment here! :) XO Narci
