I don’t know about you, but homemade pie crusts can be tricky to get just right! When I need something quick, I am not above grabbing a prepared crust, but I always break out a homemade crust when I can. This recipe is so forgiving and easy-to-use, and it is super flaky and delicious. Also, I love that this recipe makes two crusts that freeze well, and there are just a few ingredients! I use it for pies and quiches…You should bake a pie and bring me a slice!! Enjoy!
INGREDIENTS:
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup shortening
1/2 cup water
DIRECTIONS:
1. In a large bowl, combine flour and salt. Cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in water until mixture forms a ball. Divide dough in half, and shape into balls. Wrap in plastic, and refrigerate for 4 hours or overnight.
2. Roll out dough on a floured counter. (I always roll out my dough on a layer of parchment paper too, as I find it easier to work with) Don’t over work it. After it is rolled out, press into pie pan and use as directed in pie recipe.

I am a crust person! My favorite part of the pie is the crust. I could just eat crust minus the middle and be super happy…the pic of the crust on the fork like totally made me happy! This looks delish!
