Hey, y’all!! It’s time for carpool Book Club! Woohoo! Each month, I share the books that are on my nightstand!
These are the books that I read as a busy mama of 3! I read during carpool, at soccer or cheer practice, by the pool, or in my extra time after the kids go to bed. Here we go!
This book came highly recommended to me!
It’s a series of letters between a group of people, and the writing was really great and witty! I have a hard time reading books that have short chapters or are set up in letter form (I get distracted so easily!), so the downside was that this was hard for me to follow and get into! Otherwise it was really unique and creative!
Next on my list was this book, and I loved it so very much!
Mary Kay Andrews is one of my favorite chick-lit authors, and this one did not disappoint! It was a fun and easy read for summer!
And, speaking of summer, I picked this book up by another of my favorite authors!
I love Elin, but this was my least favorite of her books! It was deeper and darker than I expected. I appreciated the heaviness of the subject…But, it kind of put me in a sad mood when I read it, and I just didn’t love where she went with it! So, definitely not my favorite!
Speaking of my favorites, you should probably go ahead and just order this next one! Wow!!
I really love the way that Max Lucado writes–he is a truly gifted encourager, and you will be blessed by reading this book! Super positive but rooted in truth! A great combination!
And, next, I picked up this cute book! Oh my goodness!! This one was super entertaining!
I finished this one pretty quickly, and, after I was done I seriously asked myself “What on Earth was that?!?!”! It was funny and bizarre, and you should probably just go ahead and read it so we can talk about it later! This would be a good one to read with book club, because there is A LOT to discuss and it is really engaging! 😉
Now, let’s talk about what’s coming up! My girl, Shay, recommended this book to me, and I am really liking it! I’m on the 2nd chapter, but I’m hooked! She always has the best recommendations!
Emily Giffin just came out with her newest book, and I can’t wait to dive in! I’m starting this one tonight! I love all of her books!
A few weeks ago, one of my friends, Amanda, asked for book recommendations on Facebook, and several people recommended this one! Can’t wait to check it out! I love hearing about great books from friends!
And, Shay shared about her love for this one earlier this year, so this one just arrived from Amazon and is in my queue as well! It looks so good!
Happy Reading! What’s your favorite book this summer? Happy Monday, y’all!! XOXO Narci

I love Mary Kay Andrews and Elin HIlderbrand too. I just finished up The Matchmaker and it was my favorite Hilderbrand novel to date. I’ve got a Dorothea Benton Frank novel up next. She’s a great southern writer. You should check her out. Happy reading.

Oh girl, I have so much to say! First, I completely agree with you about Summerland. Second, I thought the EXACT same thing about Where’d You Go Bernadette. It was weird because I felt like everyone loved it and when I was done reading, I was like “What? Eh.” . I did not enjoy. Okay, I just finished First Comes Love yesterday and LOVED it! And The Insanity of God will forever go down as one of the best books I’ve ever read in my life. Oh and Cancel the Wedding is still my fave so far this year! Wow! So many good books this month friend (with a few not so great too…ha!). See you this morning!

You know my eyes typically glaze over on book review day, but I’m going to have to order Applause from Heaven. I read a Max Lucado book for the first time in high school, it was “No Wonder They Call Him The Savior” and I still remember passages from it!

I love book reviews! My fave part of Bernadette was when she ate the Cinnabon but her fingers were all sticky…so the way the book described that scene with her putting her hands up, asking for a stranger to unzip the vest pocket…….anyone know what Im talking about?!?! I thought that part so was funny! If you haven’t read it, I totally realize that sounded completely bizzare, hahaha

I love book review day!! Cancel the Wedding has been my fave book of 2016…..I’ve read 15 others, so not a ton but not a slouch. It’s just good: great characters, interesting story within a story, a little mystery-enjoy! And thanks for the other recommendations! The Weekenders is on my list for sure! My book club just picked “Everything I never Told You” by Celeste Ng. Have you read that?
