Weekend Wrap-Up

Hey, y’all!!!  I hope everyone had an amazing weekend!!   During our weekend, we went to visit my old stomping grounds: Ole Miss!   We had plans to enjoy the gorgeous campus, hang out with friends, and watch the Rebels play!  So fun!

Originally, the whole family was going to go, but the boys would have had to miss sports and a few close friends’ birthday parties…so we let them hang out with the grandparents’ back in Texas instead!  This meant that Presley had us all to herself, and clearly she didn’t mind one bit! 😉img_3152

On Friday, we stopped for lunch at Laura’s Cheesecake and Bakery Restaurant in Mount Pleasant, TX!

I don’t know who Laura is, but she makes a mean cheesecake!  I had the Texas Turtle cheesecake, and it was delish!  We just randomly happened upon this spot when we were driving to Oxford, and I am so glad that we did!

It takes between 8-9 hours to get from McKinney to Oxford, and we were super pumped to arrive that night!!  Here we are on the square before dinner!

This is the town Courthouse!  Isn’t it gorgeous?? 🙂 img_3197

We had plans to eat at my favorite restaurant: City Grocery!

The food at City Grocery is delicious, and it is just darling inside!

I had the shrimp and grits, and It was SO GOOD!!  img_3174

Presley had the grilled cheese, and it was shaped like a heart!  Oh my gosh, we loved that!

Afterwards, we walked over to Square Books!

Square Books is a fun, independent bookstore right on the Downtown Square!

Oxford has a really strong literary community and has been home to notable authors such as John Grisham and William Faulkner!

I just love all of the charm of the downtown square!

After a little shopping downtown, we checked into our hotel and got some rest for the next day!  On Saturday morning, we were up bright and early!  Presley was PUMPED for the day’s events!!

We stopped at Bottletree Bakery for breakfast!

I had the Strawberry Brioche, but all of the baked goods are so good there!

Then, we paused for a quick picture before we got even more hot and sweaty!  The humidity was like 8000 percent, and my hairspray/makeup didn’t stand a chance. 😉

So, Ole Miss has a sweet tradition where students and alum dress up for games!  Since it was so hot, there were a lot of sundresses, polos, and shorts for this game.  However, it’s pretty common the see the guys in ties, sports jackets, and such as the weather cools down!  I love a good reason to dress up, so this has always been right up my alley!

Afterwards, we headed over to the campus for the Walk of Champions!  Before each game, the police escort the coach and  team to the Grove, where the fans are tailgating!

The cheerleaders form a tunnel for the players to walk through as they walk under the Walk of Champions arch and through the rest of the Grove! 🙂 img_3236

Then, the cheerleaders and the band hang out and put on a show for the crowd!img_3240

Presley and one of the cheerleaders really hit it off, and I am telling you that my heart nearly burst when this happened!

This video doesn’t exist

Who knows what Presley will be up to when she’s in college, but I am saving this video in a very safe place on the off chance that she decides to cheer at Ole Miss one day. 😉

After  the fun, we checked out the Lyceum

and Sorority Row

and the Grove!   Everyone tailgates in this pretty treed area before the games, and it is loads of fun!!

After the Grove, we walked over to the Stadium and checked out the fun kids area!img_3258

And, then finally, the game!img_3272

We had the best time cheering on our Rebels.  img_3284

It was so neat to watch Presley appreciate her roots in Oxford and just naturally fall head over heels for one of my veryfavorite places.   I’m not a betting person, but if I was…I’d say that Oxford won over another Dreffs’ girl this weekend. 😉

After the game, we loaded up and headed home!  On the road, we saw the prettiest sunset that we’ve ever seen. img_3295

The perfect ending to a perfect weekend!  Happy Monday!  XOXO Narci
