Carpool Book Club

Hey, y’all!! It’s the last Thursday of the month which means it is time for Carpool Book Club!

Each month, I share about my favorite books that I’ve read that month, and this month was full of great reads!   These are the books that sit on my nightstand and that I read as a busy mama of 3 kids who are always on the go.   Before I started reading, I had a lot of empty space during the in between time.  You know, the time when I am waiting for an appointment or sitting with the kids outside….picking up a good book is my favorite way to pass that extra time.  🙂  So, here we go!

Here are our picks for this month!

The Hypnotist’s Love Story

So, I am a big fan of Liane Moriarty, and this book was just okay for me.   It wasn’t awful or anything, but it was a little slow moving….considering how quick witted her other books are in comparison.  It was hard to not compare it to her other books, but I could see where you might like it more if you hadn’t read her other work.  🙂  I do have to say that the stalker portion was fascinating–she did a great job of playing that out!

I Let You Go

Alright, now this book was much faster paced, and it left me guessing until the very ended!   Hello twisty-turny plot lines, and I really enjoyed this one!   The characters were fabulous and believable, and I even emailed the author after I was done reading because I needed to discuss a little further.  PS–she was super sweet and answered my questions! haha!   #stalkerreader #INEEDEDtoknow  Anyway, you will love this one!   It was good!

Unstuffed

So, I picked up this one, because my girl Shay recommended it…and I finished it in about 3 hours!  It’s a fast, easy read, and it is chalk full of practical tips on how to declutter your life.  I especially loved the later chapters, and I am planning on keeping my copy to go back to!   It was that good. 🙂

The Moment Maker

This is the last book that I read for May, and it just made my heart happy!   It really is just a sweet, encouraging read!  The author is super funny and he certainly has a a gift for weaving truth into his storytelling!   He shares about the ways that he’s transformed his family’s everyday moments into something meaningful…and I really loved this concept!

Do you have some great book recommendations?   Leave your thoughts in the comments or link up just below!   And, if you are following along with me: here is what’s coming up for June!  I got a head start on one of these, and I am hooked!

  1. This is my favorite reading time of the year – summer beach reads are coming out!
I just finished Secrets in Summer by Nancy Thayer (LOVED IT).
I just started Same Beach, Next Year by Dorothea Benton Frank.
I am anxiously awaiting The Sunshine Sisters by Jane Green (June 6), The Identicals by Elin Hilderbrand (June 13), and Beach House for Rent by Mary Alice Monroe (June 20).

Liane Moriarty’s sister, Nicola, is an author too. I haven’t read any of her books yet, but my local bookstore owner highly recommended The Fifth Letter. It’s currently on my summer to do list. 🙂

  2. This is my favorite post of yours every month! May was crazy from me but I did manage to squeeze in two books. One of them was also Liane Moriarty!

  3. Narci! I couldn’t wait til your book club to recommend this book to you because I think we have similar taste in books. Emily Giffin’s The One and Only will capture your football-lovin’ heart. It’s a beach read with some footbal thrown in and the setting is North Texas! I loved it and I think you will too. 😉

  4. I love Mary Kay Andrews. You should check out Wendy Wax (I started with Leave It To Cleavage – so not what you think) and I’ll forever recommend Susan Elizabeth Phillips – she’s fabulous.
