Tuesday Talk: Destin and 30a

Hey, y’all! Today, I am linking up with the sweetest girls, Ashley and Erika, for their fun link-up “Tuesday Talk!”

Each month, we link up and discuss a different topic, and I love getting help and ideas from you all!

This month, I am talking about Florida….specifically the Emerald Coast…the Destin area, and the very beloved stretch of  scenic highway and beaches: 30A!   Each year, we travel over to the Destin area, and I’ve talked about our trips a few times!   If you are heading to that neck of the woods, I am so excited for you….I gave some tips on vacationing in Destin several years back here and recapped our most recent trip to Sandestin here, here, and here!

This year, we are making our way down to the 30A area…an area known for its slower pace and cute beach towns.  So, we are needing all your tips for your favorite town to stay in and visit along the 30A cost, where to eat, what beaches you love, family activities, what shops to visit and more.  I want to hear it all!

I can’t wait to read about all your suggestions…We are going over Memorial Day week, and we are so looking forward to it.  P.S. If you are looking for beach portraits that week, I’ll be there May 24-May 28th!  I would love to see you and your cute family there!  You can always email me at narcidphotography@gmail.com for photography related inquiries!

Thanks so much for the fun link up, girls! Happy Tuesday! XOXO Narci

  1. Ooh!!! I can’t wait to come back and read some of these comments. Here are a couple of my questions…are golf carts allowed in all those 30A towns or have they been banned? And does anyone know of a grocery service that delivers to 30A? My least favorite thing about the beach is tackling the grocery store when everyone else is there so this would be huge!!

  2. One of our favorite restaurants is The Perfect Pig in Gulf Place, specifically their Parmesan-Potato Crusted Grouper over risotto and vegetables. It’s amazing! Also, the kids will have fun in the Village at Baytowne Wharf at Sandestin. Check the schedule for family events. So much to do and so much fun at the beach!

  3. *Seaside is fabulous place for families! Lots of of shops and restaurants. Bud and Alley’s and the Taco Bar (walk up, quick bites)are two of my favorites.
*Rosemary Beach is also a favorite 30A family spot. It’s a bit pricy accommodation wise, so we stay a few miles east at the Carrillon Beach Resort. Our absolute favorite restaurant at Rosemary, is LaCrema. The tapas are so tasty, highly recommend the Country Paella, and you must get the Hot Chocolate Molten Cake (a la mode), it’s divine! There is always a lengthy wait for dinner (they don’t take reservations), so while waiting, we walk across the street to a beautiful hotel, The Pearl, and sit outside at their gorgeous pool bar, while sipping a yummy pre-dinner cocktail.
Our favorite place nearby for breakfast is the Donut Hole. My husband and I share the “Diet” plate, which consists of biscuits & gravy, bacon, eggs, and hash browns. The portions are huge, and so good!
*Alys Beach always has a fun little concert on Memorial weekend. Sinfonia Goes Pops @ Alys Beach Amphitheater, is a small-ish orchestra, that pays tribute to award winning films, and patriotic tunes as well. The grand finale is a fireworks display! Get there early, bring your blankets or beach chairs, a cooler of drinks/snacks. Such a fun time for everyone!

  4. You should 100% check out Molly on IG her handle is destinduchess – she’s from Destin and shares the best things. She’s always posting amazing food pics and stores! Definitely check out her insta and blog!!

  5. Oh my goodness, I love that after you got engaged you went to Cici’s! I think right after we got engaged we went and bought a Sam’s Club membership – ’cause that’s what grownups do, right? haha. we’d also just closed on our first house that day, so we had to do fun homeowner stuff.

  6. We LOVE Seaside and usually stay in a cottage there or the Watercolor Inn…. if you haven’t checked it out yet, you should!! The beach pavilions make great backdrops for pictures. The town is super small and great for families! We love Bud and Ally’s and Great Southern Cafe!! The Taco Bar is great for lunch, Pickles cafe, The Shrimp Shack! We love it all!!! Cafe Tengo is great for a date night, I forget which town it’s located in. Of course The Red Bar is fun too!!! It’s our favorite part of Florida for sure!!! Oh and Cafe 30A is great too!!!

  7. We stay at Rosemary Beach which is at the far end of 30-A. There are many many beach towns in between! At Rosemary, the Sugar Shack is quintessential for ice cream and candy and a must every year. Alys Beach, we love George’s! The Red Bar is fun and delicious at Grayton Beach, but go early. Seaside has lots of fun food trucks and a great atmosphere. You can’t go wrong visiting any of them.

  8. George’s in Alys Beach is my favorite restaurant. Love the area. Anywhere on 30a is beautiful. All the towns have the cutest little squares to eat and shop. We try and vacation in that area at least once a year. Have fun

  9. We went to Destin in October and absolutely fell in love. Here are all the yummy places we ate (they were all delicious)!!

    Lulu’s Destin
    Surf Hut
    Asiago’s skillet (breakfast)
    Shake’s Frozen Custard

  10. We love 30A and have stayed in WaterColor for years! The Donut Hole is a must for breakfast- there are two locations- one closer to Destin and one closer to Panama City! Be sure to also visit Seaside- so many cute shops and a variety of restaurants from sit down (Great Southern- killer happy hour there too) to quick bites (Airstream trailers, Pickles, Taco Bar, etc.). For a super casual bite, especially for lunch, Pizza by the Sea is great too. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this area and am headed back in June 🙂

  11. Favorite restaurants are-

    Perfect pig for brunch
The meltdown food truck in seaside for grilled cheese
    Cade 30a for a steak
Hurricane Oyster Bar for oysters and shrimp poboy. Smoked tuna dip for appetizer. It’s a hidden jewel we think!!
Cowgirl kitchen for chips and queso and drunken shrimp tacos!

Text me for anything else you need 🙂

  12. Hurricane Oyster Bar is great with kids. But get there early! We also like the Perfect Pig. We like the Santa Rosa and Grayson area the best because they aren’t at crowded as some areas, but all of 30A is great! We were long time Destin people until we tried 30A a few years ago and we will never go back west!
