How I stay healthy

Hey, friends!  Back when we did our survey in January, this was one of our most popular questions:  How do I stay healthy?  I don’t know about you, but I love hearing others’ tips and tricks for healthy living.  So, today, I thought I’d share what I do do over here to keep fit and healthy!   Here we go!

I hit the gym and find other ways to stay active.  Here’s the deal….I am just a regular mama, so I don’t have a ton of time to devote to working out, but I do attend a class at my gym twice a week and go on walks with the kids A LOT.   I, also, love this Pilates DVD                                      91ytPbOD0QL._SL1500_.jpg

and I just downloaded the Kayla Istines app for the days that I need something extra.  Sweat-App

If I find myself with too much extra time on my hands, I get up and find a chore that will keep me moving.  Keeping yourself active is key!

Eat healthy when you can 🙂 I really think this is so important. Even though I eat healthy, I eat a lot….Tons of eggs, avocados, salads, hummus, protein and other foods that fuel my body in all the right ways.  Because here’s the thing:  I also love Tacos, burgers, and pie.  I really believe the beauty is in the balance of your diet. 🙂IMG_6760

I don’t look at the scale. (Really!) I know this may sound odd, but I don’t weigh myself.  I get weighed at the doctors’ office during check ups, and that’s about it!  Sometimes, I think we can get so caught up with the number on the scale that we let it rule our hearts.  So, I tend to go by how my body is feeling, how my clothes fit, if my muscles are feeling toned and strong, and my energy level.  We all are shaped a little differently, so I try not to  pay attention to what the scale says!

I keep my mind active too!   I don’t know about you, but keeping my mind busy is important to my overall health as well!   If I get caught in a mental rut or catch myself scrolling social media for too long, I pick up a book or a task around the house that I have been meaning to do.  It gives my mind something else to focus on PLUS it makes my time more productive!  Win-Win in my book!

Give yourself grace.  God made all of our bodies differently, but all in His image.  We won’t all be shaped the same, so give yourself some grace in this department.   Instead, we all are intentionally crafted by the  same God who created the starry skies, the deep blue oceans, and the kinds of sunsets that take our breath away.  If that’s not good news, then I don’t know what is!IMG_6759.jpg

Happy Monday, friends! If you have a healthy tip that you want to share, leave it in the comments!  See you back here tomorrow! xoxo Narci

  1. Denise Austin…Oh my goodness! That takes me way back to newlywed life. You’re gonna love Kayla’s app. The best part is the workouts are all 28 minutes!!

  2. Oh, yes! Love me some Denise. I had some of her workout videos on VHS! And when were first married I would work out before work with a t.v. show she had at the time where she was doing aerobics on the beach. Haha!

  3. This was such a good post. I love how you don’t weigh yourself. I’ve been obsessing over the number lately and it has been bringing me down, even though I am eating well and exercising. I needed to hear this, thank you!

  4. Thank you so much for this post! it was so good and exactly what I needed to hear today. I have been worrying too much about the number on the scale even though I am making healthy decisions. It is such a trap! The part about mental health- yes!!!!!

I love to hear from you! Leave a comment here! :) XO Narci
