2018 in Review

Hey, y’all!! Happy Tuesday!  Before we launch into our NEW YEAR, I’m recapping our 2018.  It was a big year for us: so many fun memories and a season that changed and grew our family.  It definitely will be a year that we won’t forget, so let’s take a look back at our year in review. πŸ™‚

Our year started out with lots of cozy January time. πŸ™‚ Each year, our family has an NFL playoff bracket challenge….and this year, Presley swept us all.  I guess there is some solid strategy in choosing your teams based on the mascot, after all. haha!

January was for pajamas and umbrellas

and Jackson’s first Football banquet

And, we kicked off February with the sock hop at the elementary school

and my favorite date night of the year: Erika threw a murder mystery party and it was an absolute blast!

We celebrated Valentine’s Day with my favorite valentines

Also in February, Presley started Ballet….and she really enjoyed this class!

and Luke started back on the field with his McKinney Soccer team.

March was for family pizza nights as the weather warmed up

and trips to the Drive in Movie

I taught a little photography class to some darling girls, and we had an absolute blast!

and we caught God showing off one night in our backyard at sunset.  These skies never stop taking my breath away.

In April, we got fancy

and hunted eggs at our church

followed by Easter church services with the whole family!

Also fun? We had school lunch dates

and COLD soccer games in April

In May, we were all about the flowers for our front flower beds. πŸ™‚

and couples skate time a the roller rink! ha!

Presley’s volleyball team clinched first place in their division, and they were just a little bit happy about it!

We celebrated Mother’s Day

and spent Memorial Day at the beach with our crew

with a side trip to New Orleans on the way back. πŸ™‚

In June, we started to feel those awesome summer vibes

And Miss Presley had her ballet recital.  We were so proud of her!

Also in June?  We celebrated Luke turning 10 years old!!

and Rob and I went to youth camp with our church.  We seriously had a blast!

While we were there, Jackson celebrated turning 15.  I brought a cookie cake for him to share with friends, and we got the most fun fireworks show to celebrate also!

June was all about the pool days

and July brought soccer signing day for our middle love.  We were new to this for 2018 and we learned so much about the process!

We spent 4th of July with our favorites on the town square. πŸ™‚

and even snuck out for a date night

and a family lunch as well. πŸ™‚

August brought a gorgeous sunset out our back windows

and a trip to Michigan to see Rob’s family!

We fair-ed hard while we were there

And when we got back home, we had a brunch and prayer for these teenagers as they headed into their sophomore year.

followed by a 39th birthday for me…and yes, that means I have a big birthday coming up in 2019! πŸ™‚

We started the new school year

and Presley hung up her ballet shoes to head back to tumbling….She didn’t want to choose between that and dance, but we made her because you have to draw the line somewhere right? haha.

And, finally, at the end of August, we watched our McKinney North Bulldogs at the new stadium in town.  It’s very fancy, to say the least.

We started the Fall photography rush in September, and how could we not love these ruffle bottoms. πŸ˜‰

and checked out the Yard where we saw everyone in McKinney that night.  Our town may not be super small, but on days like this it sure feels like it.

Luke kicked off the fall soccer season

but only played for about a month before we had the rainiest Fall on record.  It was fun while it lasted though!

Jackson played JV football at North

and Presley tried her hand at soccer. It was then that we found out that Luke wasn’t the only Dreffs who knew their way around the soccer field.

And, finally, at the end of September, we got some hard news…Rob was laid off after 21 years with the same company.

So, we did the only thing that we know how to do.  We turned to Jesus, our only hope on days like this.  This walk was hard, but we grew from it as a family and as a couple, and we were so touched by how our people showed up in the midst of it.  Being open about this is hard, but so many people contacted us to tell us about how sharing our story helped them navigate their own hard time.  Transparency is about sharing the good and the bad moments, and well…we walked that rough patch and invited you in to see that not every day around here is perfect… but that we serve a God who is.

In October, it was more Volleyball.  Aren’t these girls cute?

and lunches with some of my very favorite people. πŸ™‚

followed by the beginning of hot cocoa weather. πŸ™‚

We celebrated Halloween, and Rob and I decided to have a little fun with it.  If you ask Rob, this will probably go down as his very favorite Halloween ever.  haha!

In November, I took a trip to NY with my girls.

and on the very last night of our trip, we got the news that Rob was offered a year long contract position with a company in Dallas.  Answered prayer for sure!

Rob and I celebrated 17 years of marriage

and we celebrated this gorgeous girl turning 9!

November was busy!   Jackson was asked to join the Varsity team for the playoffs.

and we hosted a darling group of kids for DNOW!

We were thankful for so much this Thanksgiving.

and we kicked off the Christmas season at our church!

In December, we had all the family time!

It really was just a sweet month together!

These are the days!

2018 was one to remember for sure. πŸ™‚ Tomorrow, I am participating in a FUN link up!! Hope to see you back here then! XOXO Narci
