Book Review: Mercy Triumphs

So, a lot of you have asked, over the years, for more in-depth devotional reviews and such. I don’t pretend to know everything about this sort of thing, but I am happy to share the books and devotional that I’ve tried and loved. 🙂

Last month, I talked about the devotional that I have been using since January which I abolutely love. This month, I decided to go in a different direction and start a Bible study for the Summer so I picked up this James study.

I actually did this study a few years ago, but my friend Shay mentioned that she was doing it recently and loving it. And, I kept on thinking about how much I liked it the first time and that I should do it again. I finally ordered it, and I am so glad that I did.

Friends, I enjoyed it all those years ago, but I am LOVING it this time around. The book of James is just so full of wisdom and teaching….and Beth Moore is spot on with getting right to the heart of the commentary and the text for this study. Also, after spending some time just doing my devotional and a more unstructured quiet time, I was just so thankful to dive in a little deeper into one book and the life of James.

This study has 8 sessions, or weeks, in the study. And each week involves one video (that you can purchase to view on the Lifeway website) and 5 lessons. I try to make sure that I do a lesson (or watch a video) every single day, but you could easily take your time going through the lessons…or even take a few days per session if that’s what it takes. 🙂 One of the best pieces of advice someone ever gave me was to not let shame stop you from working at your own pace during a Bible Study. Just keep on showing up to your quiet time and give yourself grace. I loved that advice and it has so helped me keep in a pattern of having time with God everyday.

I’m about halfway through with this study, and I totally recommend it if you are looking for something new or considering revisiting it like I did!

Do you have any recommendations for studies? Leave your comments with your favorites. I am alreayd thinking about what’s next!

See you back here tomorrow, friends! XOXO Narci

  1. I am planning to do the Anxious for Nothing study by Max Lucado starting soon. I read the book and loved it so I can’t wait to actually do the study, too!

I love to hear from you! Leave a comment here! :) XO Narci
