Happy 4th!

Hey, hey!  Happy Fourth from my house to yours! I hope you had a fantastic weekend.  I am taking today off to be with my family, but I just wanted to take a minute to stop in and let you know that I was thinking about you.

Our first 4th of July at the new house was super sweet.  Nothing too fancy, but slow and simple and perfect for us.  I will make sure to share details on Wednesday and follow it up with a Day in the Life on Friday.  A fun week ahead for sure.  See you then!

4th of July Treat: Strawberry Pie Recipe

Happy Friday, friends! I don’t know about you, but our 4th of July is going to look a little different around here.  Normally, it’s parades and fireworks, but this year calls for some extra time at home (due to Covid)…and as much as I would like to get back to normal, I am trying to make the days as fun as possible.  That means lots of time outside and a special 4th of July treat…I have to say that I found this recipe here a while back, and I am so thankful that I did.  It’s the perfect Strawberry  pie recipe to brighten up your 4th of July celebration.  I’m going to be making this today, and I will be sure to share over on my stories later today. Check it out!  You will love it. 🙂

Ingredients

  • 1 recipe pastry for a 9 inch single crust pie
  • ¾ cup white sugar
  • ¾ cup all-purpose flour
  • 6 tablespoons butter
  • 1 pinch ground nutmeg
  • 4 cups fresh strawberries, hulled
  • ½ cup white sugar
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch

Directions

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees F . Place a drip pan on the lowest shelf to catch pie juices.
  • To Make Topping: In a medium bowl, mix until fluffy the 3/4 cup sugar, 3/4 cup flour, butter, and nutmeg.
  • Place cleaned strawberries in a deep bowl. In a separate bowl, mix together the 1/2 cup sugar, 1/2 cup flour, and cornstarch. Gently coat berries with this mixture; be careful not to crush berries.
  • Pour berries into prepared pie crust mounding them in the middle; mounding is necessary as the berries will sink as they bake. Cover berries with crumb topping and top crumbs with about 15 pea-sized blobs of butter. Wrap edges of pie crust with foil to prevent burning.
  • Bake pie in preheated oven for 20 minutes, then reduce heat to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) and bake for an additional 40 minutes. When there are 10 minutes left of baking, sprinkle a little extra sugar over crumb topping and then finish baking.

Amazon Lately

Hey, hey!! Happy Wednesday, from my crew to yours.  4th of July weekend is almost here, and we are celebrating at home this year…..Our new pool should be ready for swimming  by then and we now live in an area where we are allowed to shoot off fireworks…I am thinking this year will be lots of fun, in it’s own way!

Today, I am sharing about my favorite Amazon finds from the last  few weeks!  Let’s get started. 🙂

First off, I just have to share about this eyebrow shaper.  I think I have shared before that my eyebrows can quickly move to crazy long and bushy, so it’s hard to keep them in check during this covid season! I decided to try this out, and I LOVED it and results I got so much!

My kids received a snow cone machine as a Christmas present a few years ago, and it was time to replenish our snow cone syrup stash.   I loved this kit, because it came with cups and straws.  Perfect!

I picked up this cute jute rug for our mudroom, and I got a great deal on it–it was under $25!

I picked up this chalk paint to repaint our patio table.  I have used this brand a few times prior, and it always applies nicely and looks fantastic.

I shared these pink earrings a few weeks ago, but I am wearing them so often that I wanted to share them with you again.  :). They are the perfect pop for all your summer outfits.

See you back here on Friday for my favorite Strawberry Pie recipe.  It’s perfect for all your 4th of July celebrations!

House Project: Chair Swings Refresh

Hey, hey!  Happy Monday.  This weekend was mostly filled with house stuff…just lots of small details that still needed to be done around here.  I do feel like we rounded a corner on Saturday though and suddenly, it’s really feeling like a home.  Like I finally exhaled and relaxed.

For this move, I am using mostly things that we already own, refreshing them a little bit when needed…and the easiest way to do that is with some paint.  It’s inexpensive, and relatively easy to use.  Especially, spray paint.  And, luckily this project just needed some spray paint for a fun new look!

These  chair swings are from our old house.  Over the years, they rusted, so we took them down before listing.

I knew it was one of the first projects I wanted to complete at the new house.   So, when I found myself with a clear day, I grabbed all the pieces, assembled them….

brushed them lightly with a wire brush and some sand paper

and started painting.  Have I mentioned that we have alot of sod to lay down around here?  It’s the worst time to do so in Texas (because of the heat), so we have to wait for it to cool off before we can do this.I am not going to lie, It’s very tempting to try now though.

They were a great taupe color before, but I painted them a light grey to keep it in line with the color theme we have going on in the backyard.

I think they turned out great!

The top of the stand is about 8 feet tall, and I used 4 cans of this spray paint for this project.  :). You can find a similar stand here and the exact chair swings here if you are interested in a similar look for yourself. Or maybe you have something that you can spray paint in your home for a fresh new look. It’s a great project for these extra days at home. ❤️

See you back here on Wednesday, friends, for what I’ve been finding on Amazon lately! XOXO Narci

Friday What

Happy Friday, friends!  I hope you had a good week.  Last night on my instastories, I asked for you to share what areas you are struggling with so we can talk about them via the scripture…and my heart just broke.  It’s interesting, because I know my readers are from all over, but you guys are feeling the same level of heaviness that I know alot of the people I know in Texas are feeling.  I’ll be sharing some scriptures on Wednesday mornings to help.  These times are so hard.  Let’s walk it all together.

Today is going to be short and sweet.  I am running behind this week, so just a quick share on what I am watching, reading, eating….let’s go…

Okay, technically, I am listening to this and not watching, but did you know that Beth Moore does podcasts?  Where have I been?

I listened to this one on Thursday morning, and it ministered to my heart so deeply.  Just like her studies, it requires you to pay close attention, but you will love this and her I am sure.

Right now in my quiet time, I am reading through the book of Acts.

In 2020, I am reading through different books of the Bible and journaling as I go…this has been such a blessing to me and really deepened my understanding of the Bible.

Cooking in a new kitchen is so fun.  We aren’t making anything crazy complicated,  but after several weeks of showing a house, packing up a house, moving, and unpacking…simple things like making pasta and cutting a watermelon are extra sweet.

I will be honest…I am not buying much right now.  When we moved, we realized how much we have that we don’t need.  The biggest area that needed some help though was the porch and backyard spaces.  So, I did grab these great outdoor pillows to spruce things up just a bit.  I love them!

The country life.  haha! On my walks, I am loving all of the nature.

I am getting used to the bugs and starting to identify what sounds I am hearing at night and early in the morning.  This precious dog joined me for part of my walk the other day.  He was sweet as can be.  I think his nature is to herd and protect, so I am sure he thought he was just doing his job by being my escort.  I love that.

Also, you know I am always ready to poke fun at myself…On Saturday morning, I got myself stuck in the mud at the end of our driveway. Oh my gosh. haha.  I am confident that every single farmer that drove by chuckled to himself. City rookie mistake.  Proud to say that I have kept all my wheels on the gravel since then.  I am learning! 😉

Have a great weekend, y’all.  I will be back here on Monday with you!  I am doing a spray paint project this weekend, so I hope to be able to share the pics from that on here.   See you then! XOXO Narci

House Update

Happy Wednesday, y’all!  I don’t know about you, but I am so happy to be back in the groove here. We are far from finished with the house stuff, but we are making some headway

My front door is looking super festive with this CUTE lemon door hanging right now!  It has the fruit of the spirit verse written all over it, and it’s darling!  My friend Hollye is selling these and other CUTE signs as well!

The kitchen is looking super pretty!   Bar stools are in, and everything is unpacked!  Someone asked if I am loving the new floors and they are proving to be fantastic. So much easier to keep clean, and so fresh and light!

Where I spend most of my evening while I am cooking. 🙂

And, no..no we have not found our precious furniture feet yet.  We took them off so they fit better in the moving truck, and that has proven to not be the best of choices.  😉

So far, we’ve so enjoyed the space…..and the sunrises and sunsets have been so just breathtaking,

All of us are adjusting nicely to the country life, as you can see. 🙂

I will see you back here again on Friday for more of what’s been going on!  See you then, XO Narci

Hey there!

Happy Monday from my crew to yours!  Well, we are in our new house! So fun, right?!

I would definitely say that there is no tired like moving tired.  I am beat!

I am going to spend the next few days doing important things like going through boxes and LOOKING FOR THE FEET TO THE LIVING ROOM FURNITURE (seriously, where are they? hahaha!) but I promise to be back on Wednesday with some more details on the move and what we have been up to!

In the meantime, I would say that country life is agreeing with us…that’s for sure! XOXO Narci

Amazon Lately

Hey, hey friends!  This is my last post of the week. 🙂 We are moving for the rest of the week (wahoo!) So, if you need me, I will be carrying a box…or maybe unpacking a box.  We are so excited!

Earlier this week, I realized that I have bought some great items on Amazon lately, so I wanted to share them with you in cas you were looking for something similar.  Let’s get started. 🙂

CAPTURE THE FLAG: REDUX

We picked this present for Luke for his birthday, and this capture the flag game glows in the dark and is seriously fun.  I bought it with the new house in mind, and I really think it will be a blast for Luke and his friends.  It’s won a ton of awards, too.

A NEW PAIR OF AVIATORS

Luke is growing up, so his birthday requests were pretty grown up this year also.  He’s always stealing my sunglasses, so he asked for these aviator sunglasses of his own. I thought they were super cute, so I thought I would share!

OUTDOOR RUG

One of the amazing things about the new house is that our furniture all works great for the new spaces.  The only area that needed something are the porches, so I have been picking up a few things here and there for the back porch especially.   This inexpensive outdoor rug is made for outdoor spaces (read: it can be cleaned VERY easily.) and is super pretty to boot.  For now, I am planning on a dining space and a small seating area back there, so it should be super cute!

CHAIR SLIPCOVER

And, finally, I picked up these chair covers for our dining room chairs and I was SO impressed with how cute they are on my chairs. I can’t wait to show them to you in the new kitchen.  Our chairs are linen and have stains (hello kids and their friends!), so I am pumped about a fresh and new look!  And, they are washable which is a big plus as well.

Okay, I am off to sign closing papers. Yay! I will be back here with a full update on Monday! XOXO Narci

A Day in the Life: Moving Edition

Hey, Hey! Happy Monday from my house to yours! I hope you woke up with a smile on your face and some strong coffee in your cup. 🙂 I am showing up for a fun Day in the Life over on my Instagram Stories.   Today, we are staying in our temporary condo and I thought it might be fun to show you around a little and share what our day looks like in-between homes.  So, hop on over and follow along, if you like!  It should be fun!

Go ahead and check it out!    See you over on the Gram!  XOXO Narci

Friday What…

Today is just a fun compilation of 5 things that are going on in my world.    You know: what I am watching, reading, eating….I’d love for you to follow along.  Let’s go! 🙂

I had heard all the hype on this show, so I totally had to check it out!   Let’s see….a great mini-series about a group of Southern Women?  I am definitely in.

I also am almost done with this mini-series. Y’all. I don’t know why I am so into this one, but I can’t look away! It’s so good!

And, finally, you seen these videos on Youtube from the Bible Project?  One of my girlfriends knew I was reading Ruth and sent this one to me, and now I am hooked!  The Bible project has an overview video for each of the books of the Bible and I have so enjoyed viewing them as I read through the Bible in my quiet time.  They would be a great resource for you too! 🙂

I just wrapped up this book, and it was a very cute book for your summer reading.  It started a little slow, but around page 200, it heated up a bit more and I really enjoyed it from there on out.

Between the boys, we have two birthdays within one week so we have been busy celebrating and eating all of their favorites.  Also this week,  I am trying to finish everything in our freezer.  🙂 We move next week, and moving frozen items is never super easy.  I have spaghetti and shredded pork on our menu!  What about you? 🙂

I have been all about the budget jewelry for the Spring and summer, like

these pink earrings

these FUN yellow earrings

these classic white earrings

and this fun multicolored bracelet

All of these are under $10 which makes them cute and super affordable too.

It’s moving week!  It’s here, my friends, and I couldn’t be more pumped for this adventure. Downsizing and choosing to simplify and get off the hamster wheel was a somewhat scary step, but we have been given such peace during this process.  Today, we move into a temporary condo for a week while we will move the remainder of our big furniture out to prepare for the final DEEP cleaning, carpet cleaning, and last-minute fixes to prep this sweet house for the awesome new buyers.   We will close on our current house and new house next Wednesday and Thursday respectfully.  What fun.  I can’t wait to share all the details with you!   Have a great weekend, and Much love.  XOXO Narci
