House Project: Chair Swings Refresh

Hey, hey!  Happy Monday.  This weekend was mostly filled with house stuff…just lots of small details that still needed to be done around here.  I do feel like we rounded a corner on Saturday though and suddenly, it’s really feeling like a home.  Like I finally exhaled and relaxed.

For this move, I am using mostly things that we already own, refreshing them a little bit when needed…and the easiest way to do that is with some paint.  It’s inexpensive, and relatively easy to use.  Especially, spray paint.  And, luckily this project just needed some spray paint for a fun new look!

These  chair swings are from our old house.  Over the years, they rusted, so we took them down before listing.

I knew it was one of the first projects I wanted to complete at the new house.   So, when I found myself with a clear day, I grabbed all the pieces, assembled them….

brushed them lightly with a wire brush and some sand paper

and started painting.  Have I mentioned that we have alot of sod to lay down around here?  It’s the worst time to do so in Texas (because of the heat), so we have to wait for it to cool off before we can do this.I am not going to lie, It’s very tempting to try now though.

They were a great taupe color before, but I painted them a light grey to keep it in line with the color theme we have going on in the backyard.

I think they turned out great!

The top of the stand is about 8 feet tall, and I used 4 cans of this spray paint for this project.  :). You can find a similar stand here and the exact chair swings here if you are interested in a similar look for yourself. Or maybe you have something that you can spray paint in your home for a fresh new look. It’s a great project for these extra days at home. ❤️

See you back here on Wednesday, friends, for what I’ve been finding on Amazon lately! XOXO Narci

House Update

Happy Wednesday, y’all!  I don’t know about you, but I am so happy to be back in the groove here. We are far from finished with the house stuff, but we are making some headway

My front door is looking super festive with this CUTE lemon door hanging right now!  It has the fruit of the spirit verse written all over it, and it’s darling!  My friend Hollye is selling these and other CUTE signs as well!

The kitchen is looking super pretty!   Bar stools are in, and everything is unpacked!  Someone asked if I am loving the new floors and they are proving to be fantastic. So much easier to keep clean, and so fresh and light!

Where I spend most of my evening while I am cooking. 🙂

And, we have not found our precious furniture feet yet.  We took them off so they fit better in the moving truck, and that has proven to not be the best of choices.  😉

So far, we’ve so enjoyed the space…..and the sunrises and sunsets have been so just breathtaking,

All of us are adjusting nicely to the country life, as you can see. 🙂

I will see you back here again on Friday for more of what’s been going on!  See you then, XO Narci

Amazon Lately

Hey, hey friends!  This is my last post of the week. 🙂 We are moving for the rest of the week (wahoo!) So, if you need me, I will be carrying a box…or maybe unpacking a box.  We are so excited!

Earlier this week, I realized that I have bought some great items on Amazon lately, so I wanted to share them with you in cas you were looking for something similar.  Let’s get started. 🙂

We picked this present for Luke for his birthday, and this capture the flag game glows in the dark and is seriously fun.  I bought it with the new house in mind, and I really think it will be a blast for Luke and his friends.  It’s won a ton of awards, too.

Luke is growing up, so his birthday requests were pretty grown up this year also.  He’s always stealing my sunglasses, so he asked for these aviator sunglasses of his own. I thought they were super cute, so I thought I would share!

One of the amazing things about the new house is that our furniture all works great for the new spaces.  The only area that needed something are the porches, so I have been picking up a few things here and there for the back porch especially.   This inexpensive outdoor rug is made for outdoor spaces (read: it can be cleaned VERY easily.) and is super pretty to boot.  For now, I am planning on a dining space and a small seating area back there, so it should be super cute!

And, finally, I picked up these chair covers for our dining room chairs and I was SO impressed with how cute they are on my chairs. I can’t wait to show them to you in the new kitchen.  Our chairs are linen and have stains (hello kids and their friends!), so I am pumped about a fresh and new look!  And, they are washable which is a big plus as well.

Okay, I am off to sign closing papers. Yay! I will be back here with a full update on Monday! XOXO Narci

This and That

Happy Wednesday, y’all! I am so happy to be back with you and here today!  Did you notice that I changed the look around here ?  I just cleaned things up and added a few fun changes as this space evolves.  Thank you for being here!

In other news: we are three weeks from closing on our new house, and one of us will say something like “I can’t wait to move to the new house” at least once a day.  To say our family is excited is to put it lightly.

I’m being careful about what I share on here, because it’s not officially ours yet, right?   (I will sigh a HUGE sigh of relief on closing day when I don’t have to be so guarded.)  For now, here’s a quick picture from the road. 🙂

Here’s my precious realtor in front of our dream door. I still need someone to pinch me and tell me this is really happening.

In other news, we are making our way through packing quite nicely!  Slowly but surely! 🙂 We’ve been tackling the worst places first.  You know: attic, garage, kitchen, closets.

In the meantime, Luke graduated from 5th grade and is heading to middle school next year.  I am super excited for him!  This year, Luke settled into himself, gained so much confidence, and grew in so many ways..  We couldn’t be more thankful!

And, Miss Presley is off to be a big 5th grader.  She had a great year also! This girl gained so much confidence academically and is soaring.  What a blessing this has been for her.

Their principal and teachers have been amazing.  We are so thankful!

And now?  It’s summertime for these guys and we are settling in nicely!

These are the days, y’all! See you back here on Friday! XOXO Narci

Outdoor Fun!

Do you know what my mind is on?  Outdoor seating, outdoor spaces, and all the room we will have at the new house. I thought it might be fun to share a few of the budget hacks that I’m using to create a really pretty space for us!  I know we all are planning on spending more time outside so I thought this might be useful for others too!

Since our yards have always been small, We’ve never had a great outdoor space that has allowed for meaningful outdoor time, so I am super excited for this at our new house.  I actually have been collecting outdoor furniture from friends as they decided to change to new furniture, so we are all set on that. We have a great table and chair set, and a few extra chairs and fire pit. What a great start, right? I’ll be spray painting all of those items for a fresh and clean look. Yay for design on a budget!

Also, our front porch is needing a great porch swing, so we are are planning on following this tutorial for a swing bed.

Isn’t their finished product so dreamy? I will definitely keep you posted on this project!

And, speaking of swinging, our awesome hammock chairs bit the dust this winter, so we are looking at these hammock chairs as a replacement followed spray painting the bases that we already own for a fresh look with a lower cost.  It should be so pretty!

I love this off white one as well.  I am going to put these around the fire pit with a few Adirondack chairs.

Another low-cost hack for inside!

We are moving our TV stand into the kitchen nook to act as a buffet, and these brushed gold handles will be so pretty to update it to a more modern look.

They are under $30 and will totally change this piece of furniture. I can’t wait to see how this turns out.

Can you tell that we are in full-on planning mode around here?  Also fun: I’m mapping out when the best time is to plant wildflowers and bluebonnets and patiently waiting to get baby chicks.  (I can’t wait for this!) What a FUN adventure ahead.

I hope you guys have a great weekend, friends. XOXO Narci

House Update & Packing Tips

Happy Monday!  In case you missed it over on the gram, we have some very sweet news to share over here:

We found and signed a contract for a house!!

I have SO MANY things that I can’t wait to share with y’all about the new house, but I am going to wait until it’s actually officially ours to dig in. Thank you, thank you, thank you for all of your incredibly kind words and sweet comments and emails about our news.  Your support has been just breathtaking and such a precious gift.   Thank you for being excited for our crew. We close in a month, and I can’t wait to share more about it all on here. We are just so very thankful!

Since we are packing things up over here, I asked y’all for some great packing tips, and oh my stars did you guys deliver!

Packing Tips

Quite a few people asked for me to publish these tips for you to reference later, and I am so happy to share them with you today! Before I do that, I added my 5 favorite tips (that were all you from you guys..thank you!) to get you started.

  1.  Start with the hardest rooms first–We did the kitchen and master closet first and this was fantastic!  About halfway through the ktichen, I was regretting the kitchen.  However, now it feels so good to have this done. and not looming over us.  We’ve also done Presley’s room, the playroom, and the media room.
  2. Purge and then pack–since we are downsizing, I have made a pretty extensive donate pile during the process.
  3. Label everything.
  4. Pack away seasonal decor and items first.
  5. Ask friends for leftover boxes and packing materials.  This has been huge.  We have received so many donated boxes!

Want to check out the rest of the tips?  There were some amazing ones submitted.  Moving can be a beast, but these tips are so incredibly helpful. 🙂

Happy Monday, friends!  I will see you here on Wednesday with a little bit of what’s going on around here.  See you then! XO Narci

House Update

Hey y’all!  Happy Wednesday!  Today,  I wanted to share a fun planning update for the new house.  This week, we meet with builders now that we’ve ironed out some of the financials (construction loans, pinpointing our exact budget) Also, we’ve made a list of what is important to us as a family (outdoor spaces, a nice kitchen) vs. what we don’t need (we don’t need a huge amount of land or super expensive finishes).  We’ve also firmed up our square footage (about 50-60% of what our current house is :)).  Now, comes the process of interviewing builders to see which one is the best fit. 🙂

When we meet with builders, I want to have a really solid idea of what we want… I am just a planner and creative at heart, so give me an empty canvas and my mind runs like crazy. :). (God using a situation that has been hard and bringing something really sweet out of it. Isn’t this almost unbelievable?)

Our first decision that we are considering is floors. I honestly feel like this can make all the difference in a space.  I plan on using one main flooring with a few accent rooms here and there.  Since this house is much smaller, I will be using a much lighter color on the floors this time.  I think that using a continuous flooring throughout the house helps make it feel bigger as well.

Give me all the pretty light floors.

Right now, we are debating between light hardwoods

and luxury vinyl plank.  I love the hardwood tile, but I know tile is a beast to pull up if we change our minds ever.  🙂

I think this honey oak is as dark as I will go potentially

or maybe something super farmhouse like this but still in the lighter tones. 🙂

Also, Rob and I have been discussing the stained concrete floors quite a bit lately as well…if we are needing to save on budget, this can be quite pretty and allows for super easy installation of hardwoods later if we want. 🙂

They can even make it look like hardwoods or marble.

That’s crazy and so neat, right?  You know what really makes me go gaga though?  All the specialty tile that is available these days.  I can’t even handle how cute this would be in a laundry room.

This is a must for me, and I am so excited to see this come to life. 🙂 Also, I love this subway tile below for a laundry or mudroom.  SOOOO cute.

It would also be darling on a front or back patio as well. 🙂 Let’s be honest though…I’ve never met a herringbone pattern that I didn’t like. 🙂

And in a floor, there’s no exception, it seems. 🙂

Hopefully, I’ll have even more details in the next few weeks.  If you have questions about the building process, please leave them in the comments and I will try and answer them in the upcoming updates.  I will see you back here on Friday for a little Target fun!   I can’t wait!   XOXO N

Day in the Life and some Dreamy House Inspiration

Happy Wednesday, friends!  If you need me, I will be over on my Instastories for a Day in the Life.  These kinds of posts are always my favorite!  I hope you enjoy it also. In the meantime, I wanted to share the dreamy Pinterest boards that I have been working on over here :).  Right now, I am in the fun planning stage of building..where I am dreaming up what we’d like our spaces to look like.   I just love this part so much.  Right now, I am costing out different things, and it has been so cool to kind of pull apart and determine.  I’ve always been a quick decision-maker when it comes to home stuff, so this is right up my alley!  I went ahead and completely revamped my Pinterest and broke it down into different boards so it was easier for me to keep track of and for you to follow along with.  So, if you need a little farmhouse inspiration, check them out. I will see you over on the gram, friends! XOXO Narci
