Carpool Book Club

Hey, y’all!! It’s the last Thursday of the month which means it is time for Carpool Book Club!

Each month, I share about the books that I’ve read!   These are the books that sit on my nightstand and that I read as a busy mama of 3 kids who are always on the go! Before I started reading, I had a lot of empty space during the in between time.  You know, the time when I am waiting for an appointment or sitting with the kids outside….picking up a good book is my favorite way to pass that extra time now .  🙂  I have a great list this month, so sit back and enjoy!  You are going to love it all!

This month, I read two books and listened to two books!   This time of the year is pure work for me, so having the option to listen while I work is so nice!

Winter Street

img_2888

The first book I read this month was this one, and oh how I loved it!  I actually read it last year, but I knew I wanted to read the next books in the series, so I read it again for a refresher! :). It was so cute!   I love the big family and all the characters.   It’s a cute Holiday read, and I know that you are going to love it!

Winter Stroll

img_2889

Because I am nothing if not consistent, I picked up the next book in Hilderbrand’s series, and this one was a cute read as well.  During the Holidays, give me all the sweet and happy stories!  I am a big fan!

Sisters First

img_2890

Since I read two memoirs last month and LOVED hearing about people’s stories, I was anxious to pick up a new one!   I listened to this one on Audible, and it was narrated by the authors…the Bush twins.  Honestly, I didn’t know a ton about the twins, so it was neat to hear their personalities come to life!  It was really interesting to hear about their perspectives while their dad was governor and then president.  Also, I teared up when Jenna told the story of how they named her daughter Poppy after her grandfather.  It really is so sweet!

My Story

img_2891

My next memoir was a little out of left field, but I really was so moved by it!   This book is by Elizabeth Smart…the girl who was abducted and held prisoner for 9 months several years ago.  She details her abduction and such in addition to how her faith sustained her during those awful times!   It was a graphic and unsettling at times, but it was still a great read.  I found myself anxious to get back to this one, but if you are thinking that this might be too hard on your heart…then I might stay away from it.  Elizabeth doesn’t shy away from the abuse that she endured, but you will be encouraged by her hope amidst it all.

What books did you read this month?  Feel free to link up below or leave your suggestions in the comments!  I always get the best suggestions from you guys!

Happy Thursday, friends!! XOXO Narci

A “Royal” Interruption

Hey, hey, y’all!   Happy Wednesday!   Today, I am taking a break from my normal everyday programming so we can have a little girl talk session.  I posted about my royal obsession over on my Instagram recently, and you guys were in agreement.  We all are a little royally obsessed. 🙂

A few of you asked me to make a blog post out of the whole topic, and your wish is my command! 😉

img_2863img_2861So, Prince Harry has seemingly turned in his wild man ways for the married life to Meghan Markle…a famous American actress who is kind of a wild card pick for the royal family!  Among the more interesting facts about her: She’s 3 years older than him (you go, girl), and she’s been divorced once.   Seriously, I’m here to tell you that I can’t get enough of the news coverage!

My friend Meagan tagged me in their press interview, and they both seemed very sweet and charming.

img_2862

Apparently, the proposal came while they were roasting chicken at home! haha!  I kind of feel like Prince Harry could have done better than that, but to each his own.  It made me think of when Robert proposed …The proposal was all very sweet and such. Afterwards, we went to have dinner at Cici’s Pizza Buffet because we were 1. Poor. and 2.  Really craving their dessert pizza. #youknowitsgood

Anyway, this engagement took me down memory lane, because wasn’t it just yesterday that Will and Kate were married? 🙂  She was a breathtaking bride, an I right?

img_2870img_2868img_2867img_2866And, then, of course, along came Prince George.  I can’t even with his baby cheeks.  img_2872img_2874

and, then, they welcomed a baby girl Charlotte.  And, the ovaries of women all over the world exploded.  😉img_2873

WHY is this family so fun to follow??  I can’t even handle the cuteness!img_2877

img_2876img_2864

So, anyway, tell me YOUR thoughts on the royal engagement.  I read that the wedding will be this coming Spring!  Are you a superfan?  Are you taking a day off work to watch their big day?  img_2860

I can tell you that I’m president of the fan club for her ring! Just beautiful!

I need to hear all your thoughts!  Sound off in the comments!  Not a royal fan? No worries–we will have our book club link up tomorrow! See you then! XOXO Narci

Show and Tell Tuesday

Hey, y’all!  Today, I’m linking up with Andrea for her super fun Show and and tell link up!  Twice a month, we show and tell about certain topics!

Today’s post is all about my favorite gifts.  Things that we all WANT, NEED, WEAR, and READ!  Woohoo!  Let’s get started!

WANT

I don’t know about you, but I love a practical gift.  Something that will serve a purpose, and I just love these cozy boots!   They are sure to keep us all warm over the winter!

ccc0e42dd657b24997159951d93a83f7_best

Next up, I love this adorable and cozy sherpa pullover.  I hate being cold, and this is super warm and cute! While we are talking cozy, I am all about the pom trend, and these slippers are the perfect gift for anyone on your list!

I don’t know what girl doesn’t love a pretty bag, and I love how much character this one has!   This bag gives me all the heart eyes for sure.  I just bought a camera bag with a very similar feel (more on that later), and I love the classic feel of this styling!

This camo vest is an easy and inexpensive way to dress up a casual outfit! So cute!  There’s a lot of bang for your buck on this one!

And, finally, I have these jammies in the red plaid, and they are the perfect weight and cut flannel pajama set!

NEED

If you are looking for something special and homemade, then your family and friends are going to NEED you start your very own Cinnamon Roll Delivery around Christmas!  We do this in our family, and it is big hit!

img_6647You can read all about it here!

WEAR

And, finally, my favorite gift to wear and give is EASILY my engravable jewelry from Stella and Dot!

There are so many options for engraving initials, children’s names, and special grandparent names.  The sky is the limit!

You can design your own here!

READ

Jackson read this book when it first came out, and he insisted that I read it back then as well!  We both fell in love with this book, so we were thrilled to see that it was being made into a movie!

I am re-reading it with Luke and Presley, and then we are heading for a family date to see the movie.  It would be an excellent gift for older grade school children-adults.  You will love this if you haven’t had the chance to read it yet!

Thank you so much for the fun link up, Andrea! XOXO Narci

Thanksgiving Week Wrap up

Hey, y’all!!  Happy Monday!  I am so glad to be back here with you today!   Thanksgiving week is always a busy week of wrapping up shooting and editing.  We are truly in the home stretch over here, but we managed to find and have lots of fun along the way!

We took the kids to see The Star one night, and Rob and I were over here pretending that we were on a date night.  haha!

This is the best picture I could get of the kids.  Jackson wasn’t feeling well that night, so he stayed home  and slept it off.  I think he was still exhausted from attending Dnow weekend, too!  P.S.  The movie was adorable….and so good!  You should definitely go and see it!

I had Wednesday and Thursday completely off, so we ran errands and took the kids out for a nice steak dinner on Wednesday!

And, we managed to find a leaf pile at one of my favorite spots in McKinney while we were at it! 🙂

And, then, we finished the afternoon with hot cocoa and cake pops

and a cozy night in our jammies watching Elf for the win!

Thanksgiving morning, we cooked a big breakfast, watched the parade and had a lazy morning!   It was absolutely divine!

and then had a yummy Thanksgiving meal. 🙂  I am just so thankful for my sweet family!

On Black Friday, Rob and Presley had their annual Daddy Daughter Christmas Date.

Each year, he takes her ice skating, they watch the Christmas tree lighting and show at The Galleria, and have a special lunch.   It’s hard to say who looks forward to this tradition more. 🙂

Afterwards, the whole family went to Downtown McKinney for the Christmas Tree Lighting.

It was packed, but we had a great time!

And, then, we headed over to the Pantry for some ice cream.  🙂

This week was full of gorgeous Texas sunsets….

and even a sweet little Christmas performance at our church.

It really was a great Thanksgiving week.  And, now, let the Christmas fun begin! 😉

Happy Monday! XOXO Narci

What’s Up Wednesday!

Hey, y’all!!  Happy Wednesday!

Today, I am linking up with Shay, Sheaffer, and Mel for their super FUN link-up: What’s up Wednesdays.  I just love sharing what is going on with us every month!   Let’s get started!

The last Wednesday of each month, we answer these questions.  Here we go!

What we’re eating this week….

We are making our way through Shay’s awesome new cookbook, and it has made my dinner planning so easy!  I love all of the slow-cooker recipes!  Following her recipes has made supper time so easy at our house!

What I’m reminiscing about…

This popped up in my memories from Facebook, and oh my stars…Could it be any sweeter? 🙂  This was Presley’s 2nd birthday.

Oh gosh, it’s hard to believe she’s 8 years old now!

I am, also, over here reminiscing about a fun surprise that we had for the kids last Christmas!

Normally, the kids tag along and visit with Santa at the beginning of my Santa sessions, but we had a few conflicts with the time…So Santa insisted on making a special trip to our house instead.

This totally led me down the rabbit hole to this sweet Santa moment with our dear Manda last Christmas.  Her expression on this photo slays me every single time.  Oh, how I miss her!

What I’m loving…

We received a little sneak peek of our family photos last week, and I am loving it!

Being in front of the camera isn’t easy for me (I’m much better at being behind it! haha!), but it was such a treasure to let Jeanine work her magic on my own little family.  My heart could just explode.  Now, I can’t wait to see the rest!

What I’m wearing…

Since it’s getting dark so early, I am over here in Pajama mode!  I love this festive pair!

And, I ordered this cute henley stripe!  I can’t wait to share my thoughts! And, I am sucker for a tartan plaid.  I love the slim cut of this plaid set!

And, my favorite Ansley Ugg slippers

What I’m dreading…

nothing at the moment. 🙂

What I’m excited about…

This weekend, we hosted a group of 6th grade girls and can I just share that it was such a sweet experience?

The girls stayed with us Friday and Saturday night, completed several Bible Study lessons, and competed in a few fun challenges along the way.  This weekend is all about building up our teens, and I am a big fan! This is my friend Lori (she cooked for the girls all weekend and was amazing!)

Presley was in heaven the whole time!

They competed in a canned food drive (in which they totally held their own…even though they were one of the youngest groups) and a competition called “Bigger and Better”.  During this competition, they were given a pencil, and they had to trade it for something “bigger or better” by asking parents, family friends, or going door to door.  Through a succession of trades, they ended up with a bike and then Presley decided to donate her old pink convertible to the cause.  (All these items will be donated to charity).  She made a big entrance in front of all the teens by driving up in that little convertible in front of all the big kids.

The highest value item won, but we definitely got extra points for her big entrance. haha. 🙂

What we’ve been up to…

Oh, you know…just a little bit of this and that.

naps while we can manage it, because #busyseason

and some sweet moments tucked in between all of the chaos.

What I am working on….

I am making my way through my Fall calendar, and it is going great!

Also, I am so excited to share that we opened up a few spots in December in addition to our Santa sessions…so Hop on over to my Photography page if you’d like more info on all of that!

What I’m watching or reading…

I ordered an Advent Study for our family and myself from Sacred Holidays!   I think it’s going to be good!  You can find it here!

And, I am still loving my Jesus Always devotional. 🙂

What I am doing this weekend…

We are heading to Downtown McKinney for the Christmas tree lighting

And, it’s Jackson’s turn to play the violin in the annual Deck the Halls performance at church!  SO fun!

What I am looking forward to next month!

All the Christmas Activities 🙂  I can’t wait!

Bonus Question: What’s Your Favorite Thing to do with the Elf? 🙂

In the past few years, I’ve passed on my Elf duties to our teenager Jackson….because I can only do so many things at once, and he is way more creative than I am. haha!

I am a big fan of delegation!  I can’t wait to see what he comes up with this year!

Happy Wednesday, friends!!  Thank you so much for the fun link up, girls! XOXO Narci

Monday Meme

Good morning, friends!  We are coming off a great but busy weekend over here hosting some cute teens in addition to our normal crazy life!   So, if you don’t mind, I’ll be taking the next few days to tidy up my desk, get some work done, and tackle ALL THE LAUNDRY before we head into Thanksgiving.  I will be back on Wednesday with What’s up Wednesday and a super special Black Friday Favorites on Friday.  In the meantime, a few memes for your Monday.  Happy Thanksgiving week, y’all!

I really liked this color combo together!   We did our family pictures in a white barn, but I think they’d be gorgeous outside against some Fall leaves as well!
